I am working as a Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Information and Process Management IPM at the FHS St. Gallen, University of Applied Sciences, St. Gallen, Switzerland since October 2009. Here I am working in the interdisciplinary research area eSociety (www.esociety.net).
Personally, my major research interests concern changing patterns of communication and interaction through means of digitalization in societies, markets, businesses and other organizations, as well as on the level of individuals. Thus, I am interested in the increasing importance of ‘information’ and its impact, for example, on value creation which includes fields like Electronic Markets and all flavors of Electronic Commerce and Electronic Business. Currently I am especially interested in the utilization of New Media and Social Media in the commerce area as well as in governmental and societal areas such as eDemocracy, eParticipation and Smart Cities and Regions.
See my personal Blog (HD's Two Cents - Themen rund um die Informationsgesellschaft (German only)) for further discussions and statements.

Before, I was working as a Senior Research Associate and Senior Lecturer at the =mcminstitute for Media and Communications Management, University of St. Gallen, Switzerland where I was responsible for the research group Competence Center Electronic Markets CCEM and other CCEM-related projects at the =mcminstitute.
During the summer term 2001 I hold an interim chair for Information Management (Wirtschaftsinformatik) at the University of Augsburg, Germany.
